Certificates of specialty for Tec students

About the certificate program

Certificates of Specialty are available in many areas, such as the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, the Sauder School of Business, and the Faculty of Applied Science (Engineering).

To receive a certificate, you must complete the required courses and a number of elective courses. Certificates require 5 UBC courses (15 credits). Some certificates take a term to complete and some take a year. Students staying for two terms may take the courses required for the certificate as well as additional courses. It is also possible to take more than one certificate in a year. Most students take 5 courses (15 credits) per term at UBC, or 10 courses (30 credits) over two terms.

For information on program fees, accommodation, entry into Canada, health insurance, and a timeline, see the Finances and logistics section.
